Today, July 16, 2026, the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) published the resolution of the Technical Council of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) regarding the implementation of the e.firma as the sole valid digital certificate for
carrying out affiliation-related procedures.
According to this resolution, employers, their legal representatives, and other parties obligated before the IMSS must use the e.firma issued by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) as the means of access to the IDSE portal in order to perform the corresponding procedures and transactions before the Institute.
Therefore, if the process of linking the e.firma to the IMSS Virtual Desk (Escritorio Virtual del IMSS) has not yet been completed, it must be carried out before October 15, 2026, and access to the IDSE portal should be verified. This is because the Employer Electronic
Identification Number (NPIE) and the digital certificate issued by the IMSS will no longer be valid for accessing the system. Consequently, access will only be possible through the e.firma issued by the SAT.
